Program Developer/Principal Facilitator: This workshop has been designed by Heather Gray, TAMA Inc. She brings with her an extensive background relevant to this subject area and strong technical experience as well as training, speaking and facilitation skills.

Delivery Format: The optimum class size is 15 to 18. Up to 20 may be accommodated, although it is essential that the class size be limited to no more than 20 to ensure that participants learn and can apply what they’ve learned in this intensive one day process. It is recommended that Executive, Manager and Staff sessions be held separately so as to not inhibit discussion.

Executive and administrative briefings are recommended prior to any roll out to staff and manager groups. This enhances credibility and buy-in for all levels of the organization.

Duration: Workshops are designed to be either 3 hour (1/2 day) or 6 hour (one day) sessions. They are streamlined to fit the exact needs of the organization. The sessions involve several delivery formats with a focus on not only learning through hearing and reading, but also through hands on exercises, role plays, case studies and group discussions. Some of the interactive elements utilized include:

  • Video Clips - where participants will view a situation and have a small or large group discussion following
  • Teaching points delivered throughout the session, supported by tangible examples
  • Problem-solving tasks, explored within small groups and de-briefed as a large group
  • Mini Lectures that will include slides on overhead projectors, flipcharts, and workbooks - these would all be followed by an exercise, a small group discussion or discussion as a large group.
  • Case Studies that reinforce their new knowledge will be used first in small group discussions and then a large group discussion
  • Role Plays (optional) where participants can volunteer to act as different scenarios are played out
  • Examination (optional) to illustrate that the learning has taken place

A 40% lecture and 60% participation ratio is anticipated.
