Workplace violence can manifest itself in a workplace in a myriad of ways. From rage and hostility to the spectacular shootings we hear about on the news, all will be explored. This session will also provide a thorough examination of crisis development and the proper application of ‘triage threat assessment’ principles. The four cornerstones of violence (JACA) will be discussed as will ‘pre-incident indicators’, the tell-tale warning signs to watch for in a troubled employee.

The audience will come to understand that the ‘context’ of a threat is far more meaningful than the words, although it is the words that get our attention. In this presentation, a number of valuable tools are revealed, in the form of tangible, practical tips on reducing the potential for violence as well as guidelines on how to respond if violence has already surfaced.
