This session takes the discussion of threat assessment theory and protocol into great depth. Threat assessment is reserved for those situations that are considered very concerning, volatile or when there is some tangible threat from a known source. These often include a challenging or problematic employee (current or former), terminations and outside relationships coming into the workplace (domestic violence and stalking being the most prevalent).

One of the best tools for inclusion in any threat assessment protocol is that of Gavin de Becker’s MOSAIC® software. This tool is not for profiling. Rather it seeks to capture and assess the level of risk so as to allow for effective contingency planning. Heather Gray has trained personally with Gavin de Becker in Los Angeles and was the first independent consultant licensed to use MOSAIC® as part of a comprehensive threat assessment and case management protocol.
