In this presentation, Heather Gray will cover the strategies of how to terminate difficult employees in a direct and professional manner while following protocol to prevent an escalation of violence. Participants or attendees will explore the TIME theory, that of threats, intimidations, manipulations and escalations and how each of those can be evaluated and monitored in gauging the level of danger.

This session will also provide a thorough examination of crisis development and the proper application of ‘triage threat assessment’ principles and address specific safety issues. The four cornerstones of violence (JACA) will be discussed as are ‘pre-incident indicators’, the tell-tale warning signs to watch for in a troubled employee.

The audience will come to understand that the ‘context’ of a threat is far more meaningful than the words, although it is the words that get our attention. In this presentation, a number of valuable tools are revealed, in the form of tangible, practical tips on reducing the potential for violence as well as guidelines on how to respond if violence has already surfaced.
